Fruits
Fruits – the mature ovary of a plant or tree, including the seed, its envelope and closely connected parts, as the pit and flesh of a peach, or a pea and its pod” -Webster’s Unabridged dictionary
– crops listed as fruits are usually grown on trees, shrubs, vines and fleshly-stemmed plants. Commonly, such crops as tomatoes and melons are classed as vegetables, although it is proper to call them vegetable fruits.” -World book
Therefore, fruits are…..
*Not only apples, peaches, dates, avocados, oranges, etc…(from trees)
*But pineapples, guavas, berries, etc. (shrubs)
*And seeds of plants: nuts of all varieties
*And seeds with pods: legumes of every type
*And fruits of vines: cucumbers, squash, melons, etc
*And fruits of fleshy-stemmed plants: tomatoes, eggplants, pepper, etc.
